Mongolian food is not easy to find in Bay Area. Yet, European Market Deli & Café is a hidden treasure of Castro Valley, and Mongolian customers can find here foods they will be familiar with. Besides many hard-to-find delicacies from Ukraine, Moldova, Latvia and other Eastern European countries, they will find Kumys, Airan, various meats and pickled vegetables. Whether mortadella, or bologna, pickles or a traditional-style camel milk drink, customers can get a taste of Mongolian food.
Hidden away from the main drag, European Market Deli & Café offers a variety of meats, pickled vegetables, but also meat pieroshki that are popular with our Mongolian customers. We are familiar with foods from accross Europe and Asia. Our store offers not just Central and Eastern European foods, but also sweet wines from Georgia and Moldova, also cured meats and cheeses. You can get canned meats and canned vegetables from many European makers.
If you are looking for a quick and tasty lunch, look no further. We have a small dining area, so you can try fresh meat or cabbage pieroshki (deep fried dough stuffed with meat or cabbage or potatoes), fresh pelmeni (meat dumplings), chicken tabaka (butterflied, pressed and fried chicken soaked in garlic) and a variety of cutlets, salads and other treats made on premises. Red borscht soup is a favorite soup among our customers and there is always a fresh batch ready. You can eat it right on the premises, or we can prepare a takeout order.
We are located at 20912 Redwood Road in Castro Valley. Our location is conveniently only 2 blocks away from the I-580 and the Castro Valley BART station. With the newly opened I-580 on-and-off ramps, you can quickly get in and out. We are open 7 days per week.
